Windy Days
Tuesday, February 17th, 2009The past couple of weeks have been very strange weather. One day it is 70 degrees and the next day it is only in the 20′s. One day the sun is shining and the next day we are having sever thunderstorms with high winds and the threat of tornadoes. It has been a crazy couple of weeks.
Last week the high winds blew down several trees in my neighborhood. I was concerned about some of the big old trees in my own yard, but luckily we had not problems. But my next door neighbor, Hattie, had a huge tree limb break off an old hickory tree and come crashing to the ground. It must be at least 60 feet long and bigger around than my stout friend, Walter. I tell you, my whole house shook when that tree limb hit the ground!
Thank goodness no one was hurt and I’m sure Hattie will find a nice young man to come by with a chain saw soon to cut it up and haul away a nice supply of firewood.
