Writing for Fun

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

A friend mentioned that they love reading my blog and love my writing style. Although that was nice and flattering, it made me wonder what is so special about my writing style?

I never really thought about that much. I just type the words that come to mind when I’m trying to describe something or explain my thoughts. I do not make a conscious effort to have a certain style.

So I am puzzling over that today and if you have any thought please leave me a comment on this post. Thanks!

Football Almost Over

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

Girls – we will have our menfolks back soon! This weekend is the last of football except for the Super Bowl in two weeks!

If you want to grab up your guy and do something fun, next weekend is the perfect time – there is no football on the weekend between the playoff final games and the actual Super Bowl. So make your plans now!

Busy Baker

Monday, January 12th, 2009

For some reason I decided that we need cake. I’m not a big fan of pies, but I do like a good cake once in a while. So today I decided to bake.

I have a pantry with a variety of cake mixes and cans of frosting. The one that caught my eye was for a pineapple supreme mix. I love pineapple cake and especially like the pineapple upside down cake. That is where you put melted butter, brown sugar and pineapple rings in the bottom of the baking pan before you pour the batter in. I put marachine cherry halves into the center of the pineapple rings, just to add some color and another sweet flavor to the cake.

It turned out delicious and would you believe that half of that cake is already gone!

Gloomy Days

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

This winter has had very little sun and a lot of dark and gloomy days. It’s like a reflection of the current economic conditions that our country is facing – all the doom and gloom on the news just makes the darkness outside even darker and more depressing.

I need sunshine to be motivated and productive. If I wanted to deal with rain every day I would move to Seattle!

New Year Resolutions

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

Everyone talks about making New Years resolutions but I wonder how many people actually stick to them through the whole year? I think too many people set unrealistic goals and after a few weeks or months they get either frustrated or bored or distracted and then you have to deal with a wave of guilt. That’s not good and I would rather not make big resolutions on a certain date. If I have to make to big changes in my life, there’s no law saying that it has to happen on January first. I’ll deal with them as they come along.
