Holiday Weekend

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Today we have so much yard work – I bought some nice gloves to wear while raking so I don’t get blisters on my hands like I did from last year’s yard chores.

This morning I went into the basement and found the boxes of Christmas decorations for the yard and the house and pulled them out. We have to rake up all the leaves first, then we will string colored lights in the tree branches. I have a cute little train that is about 10 feet long and lights up at night that I put out by the mail box.

It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Holiday Week

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

This week is going to be so busy. We have tickets to a hockey game tonight, then tomorrow I have to clean house and get ready for the Thanksgiving party, then I have to cook for 12 people for Thursday night. Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year – Black Friday – and I intend to be at the mall at 5:00 am sharp. Then this weekend we have to get the yard decorations out and start stringing lights.

I love this time of year and can’t wait for the first snow to put everyone in the Christmas spirit.

Wreath Making Class

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

In the little local newspaper that shows up in our driveway every Thursday I noticed an ad for the Hermitage and their annual fall festivities. They are having a wreath making class for the cost of just the materials, and I think I would like to do that.

I have a way with flowers and making things, and I think if someone showed me how to do the basics of wreath making that I could master that readily and maybe even give some to friends as holiday gifts.

This has been a crazy week. All sorts of unexpected things to disrupt my days. I won’t go into details, but let me just say that I am very glad this week is over. I welcome the weekend and after my household chores and shopping are done, I intend to soak in a hot bubble bath and read a good book. That’s my idea of a nice respite. Bubbles, candlelight and a book.

Appreciating Our Veterans

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

My good friend, Walter served our Country and so did my Daddy, although Daddy served a very long time ago in World War II and he’s been gone a long time now. But Walter is one of the few men I know that served in the military and came home with no injuries and no PTSS. He is a good man and I’m proud to call him my friend – even if he didn’t read my blog!

So today we all honor our Country’s veterans and if you know someone who has served, you should give them a hug or a handshake and tell them to their face that we all appreciate their service.
