Lonesome Dove

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

There was nothing to watch on TV tonight that had any interest for me. So I put the Lonesome Dove DVD in the DVD player and made a batch of popcorn for an old fashioned movie night.

I love the story behind Lonesome Dove. Although it can be very violent and graphic, it is overall very tastefully done and did a thorough job of presenting life in the old west.

Football Delays

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

The worst thing about Sundays in the fall is that the TV schedule is messed up. The football games are broadcast on the network channels and when the game run longer than the time allotted, the rest of the programming schedule gets pushed back. So I never know if my shows will be coming up on time or 10 minutes late or sometimes even as much as 40 minutes later than normal.

Willie at the Ryman

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

Willie Nelson is in town this week. He’s doing a show at the Ryman Auditorium. It sold out in just an hour when the tickets went on sale, so I didn’t get a chance to see him this time. But some of my favorite memories have to do with prior Willie Nelson concerts. Love that Willie Nelson!

Rained Out Game

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Friday night and we planned to go to the high school football game. But it is raining. Again. I’m not willing to stand in the rain to watch any football game. Unless it was my son playing in the game, of course!

Vampires and Zombies

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Why is everyone talking about vampires and zombies? I have seen reports of a Zombie Walk in Toronto and even here in downtown over the weekend. Why would people want to get dressed up like they are dead? It makes no sense to me. And the vampires! Why would anyone want to encourage the idea that some people have been transformed into monsters that drink your blood and either kill you or turn you into a fellow monster? What good can ever come of those kinds of stories?
