My new computer arrived today. I am so impressed! I ordered the computer on Dell’s web site on Sunday night, and it was on my doorstep this afternoon, thanks to Fed Ex and Dell’s quick shipping. I can’t wait to fire it up and install the software so I can set aside my laptop for travel and not for daily use. This is a good day!

My desktop computer has stopped working. I’m not yet sure if it is dead or just seriously ill. I can’t use it, so decided to take the cover off and take a look at its guts. Not that I would know if anything is amiss. But I was curious and figured that if its truly dead, taking off the cover wouldn’t hurt anything. I am relying on my laptop until our tax refund comes in. Then I hope to find a good deal on a replacement desktop so the kids have use of a computer – they are not allowed to use my precious laptop.

The kids are having their Valentine’s parties at school today. The actual holiday falls on Sunday this year, and there is not school on Friday nor Monday, so today is the only day it makes sense to have the parties and celebrate a fun, loving holiday.
We were up late writing the names of classmates on dozens of valentines that we bought at KMart over the weekend. The kids also have to decorate a shoebox to take and put on their desks as a valentine’s mailbox. That is fun, too. We are using shiny things, glitter, bows and stickers. I think I am enjoying this as much as the kids are!

We have not seen the first snowflake tonight but the news has announced that schools are closed tomorrow due to a snow forecast. That’s a little crazy to close them when it is just predicted. But then again, it will be so much less stress in the morning, worrying about whether the kids have school, whether they will be safe on the bus, whether school will have to close early and all that.
I hope we do get a little snow so the kids can have some fun for a day playing outdoors and so it was worth closing the schools.

Happy New Year!

We could not stay awake long enough to watch the ball drop on Times Square. I’m sure it was exciting, as it is every year. I fell asleep knowing that 2009 was about over and that 2010 hold promise of many good things for us all.
